Young American tenor, Scott Joseph Mello, hails from Newton, NJ and enjoys a diverse career on the concert, recital and operatic stages. 

He has appeared in the United States and Europe with such ensembles as Akron Symphony, Apollo’s Fire (the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra), Oberlin Baroque and Chamber Orchestras, Cleveland’s Trinity Chamber Orchestra, the West London Sinfonia and the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall. 

Mr. Mello has appeared with the Aspen Opera Theater Center and Oberlin Opera Theater where his credits include Tom Rakewell in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress; Bill in Barber’s Hand of Bridge; Acis in Handel’s Acis and Galatea; Hippolyte in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie;  Guillot de Morfontaine in Massenet’s Manon.  

Mr. Mello has performed under the baton of such prominent conductors as James Conlon, Paul Polivnick, Jeannette Sorrell, and Robert Spano among others.  He holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and currently lives in New York City. 

As an educator, Mr. Mello has served on the music faculties of Seton Hall University and The College of New Jersey. 

Most recently he appeared with Apollo’s Fire in performances of the Praetorius Christmas Vespers in Cleveland, which was recorded for Koch International Records.
