Driving Directions from Carmel and Route 1:
(If you will be driving west bound on Carmel Valley Road
from Laureles Grade, follow this link.)
If you are heading south on
Route 1, you turn left on Carmel Valley Road and head east.
Our house is 4.2 miles east
of the intersection of Route 1 and Carmel Valley Road.
Keep an eye on your odometer,
on the mailbox numbers, and on the occasional and elusive mile markers on the shoulder.
As the mailbox numbers reach 7000, keep a sharp lookout for landmarks on the right-hand side of the road:
1) Valley Hills Shops / Baja Cantina
2) Hacienda Hay and Feed
3) "Farmstand/Organic Kitchen" and "Earthbound Farms"
4) Valley Hills Nursery
Then three speed limit signs in quick succession:
1) "45 MPH Zone Ahead"
2) "45 MPH"
3) and then a "25 MPH School Zone" sign
AS YOU APPROACH THE "25 MPH" SIGN, turn on your right blinker and pull off onto the shoulder. Look for the Big Red Mailbox.
Turn right into the narrow driveway closest to the mailbox.
There are two parallel driveways separated by a hedge and fence: a huge wide gated driveway is on the right. Avoid. The narrow driveway closest to the red mailbox is ours. It heads straight back from the road. There are two possible left turns in this driveway. Avoid.
Just follow the driveway straight back all the way to the
last house by the gigantic oak tree, and park diagonally by the wooden fence on your right. Our front door is on the wrap-around porch with all the potted plants. I will probably be outside waiting for you.
