Driving Directions from Carmel and Route 1:

(If you will be driving west bound on Carmel Valley Road
from Laureles Grade, follow this link.)

If you are heading south on Route 1, you will turn left and head east on Carmel Valley Road.

Keep an eye on your odometer, on the mailbox numbers, and on the occasional and elusive mile markers on the shoulder.

Our house is 4.2 miles east of the intersection of Route 1 and Carmel Valley Road.

As the mailbox numbers reach 7000, keep a sharp lookout for this series of landmarks on the right-hand side of the road:

1) Valley Hills Shops / Baja Cantina

2) Hacienda Hay and Feed

3) "Farmstand/Organic Kitchen" and "Earthbound Farms"

4) Valley Hills Nursery

Then come three speed limit signs in quick succession:

1) "45 MPH Zone Ahead"

2) "45 MPH"

3) and then a "25 MPH School Zone" sign
     (NOTE: as of February 6, 2007, this sign is lying by the right side of the road.
      It was demolished by a drunk driver....).

AS YOU APPROACH THE "25 MPH" SIGN, turn on your right blinker and pull off onto the shoulder. Look for the Big Red Mailbox.

Turn right into the driveway closest to the mailbox.

There are two parallel driveways separated by a hedge and fence: a huge wide driveway on the right and a narrow one on the left. The narrow one is our driveway. The red mailbox is right next to this driveway. It heads straight back from the road.

Drive straight ahead to the last house and park diagonally by the wooden fence. (You'll see a "Parking for Musicians Only" sign :-)

Our front door is on the wrap-around porch with all the potted plants.
