Silent Night
With
my friend Bob
Phillips on electric keyboard
This song was recorded in Bob's Carmel studio, and originally appeared on a special Holiday
CD called "Bring
Back the Music",
released by Central Coast jazz musicians to raise money to help replace instruments lost by New Orleans musicians
during hurricane Katrina.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
by Hugh Martin and Ralph
Blane
from the 1944 MGM film Meet Me In St. Louis
This is a goofy little arrangement I put together with a
Macintosh, the Taylor guitar in the photo, one nice mic, and lots and lots of wires and other gizmos.
The sounds are all acoustic and were all made by me in my
home office/studio within in the span of a few hours.
This final stereo version
was mixed down from 24 tracks containing 32 separately recorded takes. Each take varied in length
from a few measures to an entire verse.
For this recording I also was equipped with freshly-baked state-of-the-art cinnamon
buns and a soy latte (lovingly made by Ginna) that were of vital importance to the completion the
overall project.
