An eternal charm of music shows itself in the delight of hearers happening upon its unexpected joys and sweet sonorities.

Last Friday Sonia Gariaeff and Elspeth Franks bequeathed such a charm to their Carmel audience throughout their wonderful vocal recital aptly called "Sweet Power of Song."

Even for those of us familiar with the grace, beauty, and expressive range of these two superb young professional soloists, the event seemed utterly fresh and renewing - a brilliant showcase for the pair, which, muses willing, will see many repeated performances.

Soprano and mezzo duets by Beethoven, Gounod, Brahms, Saint-Saens, and others provided the heart of the program, with a dazzling set for each solo voice as well.

Any community presenter, organization, or concert hall manager who chooses to sponsor Franks and Gariaeff in this program will be granting their audiences an enchanting and memorable performance of art songs.
