More about David

Music in Elizabethan Times was so highly regarded that all cultured ladies and gentlemen strove to sing well! The solo songs and madrigals they sang are filled with expressive vocal lines, transparent texture, and delightful word play. For the first time in history, complex music and sung text were becoming equally expressive partners.

People were judged no so much on skill as on participation: to refrain from singing at a party was considered rude! And because Elizabethan music was such a part of daily life, this vocal repertoire is suitable for singers of all skill levels.

David Gordon, a distinguished performer and recording artist of Elizabethan song, will lead the entire group in several Elizabethan madrigals. As he rehearses the music, David will offer plenty of vocal tips, helpful interpretive ideas, and fascinating background information about the music, the composers and poets, and the the artistic world of Elizabethan England.

Come and sing (music will be provided) or just observe.
Tickets: $25
Free admission for 20 years of age or younger (must show ID)
