Adams Vocal Master Class application statistics
("Press Kit" refers to the entire application package: resume, rep list, demo CD, etc.)
Applications for the 2006 Master Class
174 - Total Applications Received
7 - Press Kits that contained no mailing address
3 - Press Kits that contained no contact information whatever
(just the name and voice type of the singer)
5 - Demo CDs without any identifying information whatever
(No name, phone, nothing. Is this insane or what?)
8 - Press Kit that did not indicate the voice type (soprano, alto, etc.)
1 - Unrecorded Demo CD (I tried it in three machines and in my computer. It was blank)
3 - Press Kits that contained incorrect contact info
(Notification letters sent by me to the applicant were returned as undeliverable)
1 - Shopping list on a Post-It note attached to the back of a resume
Do you see why I wrote the "Advice" page?
Applications for the 2007 Master Class
113 - Total Applications Received
3 - Press Kits contained no mailing address
for this reason we save all the packing envelopes (FedEx, etc)
until all the replies have been sent
5 - Press Kits did not indicate the voice type (soprano, alto, etc.)
3 - Demo CDs without any identifying information whatever
1 - demo CD had content info written on the recorded side of the CD
rendering the CD unplayable
1 - applicant emailed attachments to the Festival Administrator,
and asked her to print them and give them to me
in order to avoid emailing the attachments directly to me
(because I ask for no email attachments)
Thanks to all the 2007 applicants who sent such fine stuff!
This year's adjudication was much smoother.
